Kicking off 2018 in true Brooklyn style, Airbnb hosts and the local business community came together to network, celebrate the neighborhood and meet their elected officials at Restoration Plaza on January 25, 2018. Bridging economic development and tourism through collaboration between local AIRBNB hosts, elected officials and local businesses, the event hosted over 150 attendees.
Without the support of our elected officials and their love for Brooklyn and Bedford-Stuyvesant, neighborhoods across the borough would not see such growth of business opportunities and tourism as we have today. By bringing together local businesses and Bedford-Stuyvesant residents who open their homes to visitors from across the globe, this event aims to assist in keeping tourism dollars within Brooklyn, supporting local businesses and creating authentic Brooklyn experiences.
Attendees to the event series created by Explore Brooklyn and Airbnb were many, but we wish to give a special thanks to: Ingrid Lewis-Martin, Senior Advisor to the Brooklyn Borough President, Hon. Tremaine S. Wright, District 56 Assembly Member, Hon. Robert E. Cornegy, New York City Council 36th District, Colvin Grannum, President and CEO for the Bedford-Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation, Henry Butler, District Manager of Community Board 3, Hon. Velmanette Montgomery, New York State Senate, 25th District, and Andrew Hoan, President and CEO, Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce.
In collaboration with Hon. Tremaine S. Wright, Hon. Robert E. Cornegy Jr., Restoration Plaza, With Love From Brooklyn, Bed-Vyne, Bravi Ragazzi and Rowe’s Restaurant, the event was a great success and a fun networking event for all.
Explore Brooklyn, Airbnb and the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce are looking forward to the remaining seven Explore Brooklyn Tourism Mixers in 2018, so keep an eye out for the one coming in your neighborhood, if you are a business or Airbnb host!
