A PLAYGROUND FOR MAKING WITH TECHNOLOGY
The Makery is a pop-up Makerspace - part shop, part workshop, part exploratorium. A movable and temporary storefront venue where youth and adults are encouraged to be curious, to tinker, to experiment. We're a place where communities can gather to play with the creative power of digital design and fabrication, physical computing, engineering, and coding.
What happens to Flappy Bird when the player has to flap to play? In this special 3 day STEAM camp during schools' Spring Recess, we will teach you how to remix (recode) the famous game Flappy Bird and create a custom wearable controller to play the game. This series of workshops will involve basic game design, coding in p5js, designing custom assets, programming an Arduino, and crafting a custom wearable controller. This special Spring Recess series meets Monday through Wednesday, 10AM to 3PM on April 2, 3, and 4th. For ages 12+ Pre-registration required: https://makeryspringrecess2018.eventbrite.com
Repurpose old toys and dolls and bring them to life! Together we'll dissect a toy and teach you how make a toy light up or move in new ways. Learn some basics about electronics, programming, and how to apply those principles to begin inventing. A kit of electronics materials is included. We'll also provide a new plush toy, but feel free to bring your old toys or dolls. Come with friends, family, or on your own. Register here: https://toyhackingworkshop.eventbrite.com
