Really sad, as a long time member who has helped organize group classes for kids at the garden, has brought large groups for events and consider myself a strong supporter for decades who follows the rules and understands the need to preserve the garden. Today, while visiting with 4 other moms (also members), we were told not to let our young children run at the Cherry Esplanade, and on the same breath that we should just go to the park by a guard. Now, the garden is already not very family friendly, as it is hard for parents to constantly tell their kids they can't touch anything, sit on the grass, or otherwise engage with much throughout the park. The Cherry Esplanade was the only place where we could relax a little and let the kids enjoy their environment. We carefully looked at the rules. There was nothing saying kids could only walk on the Cherry Esplanade. We felt so unwelcomed we left, and are all seriously considering whether to renew our memberships, as apparently, we should just go to the park...
