Well it's been fun this evening. I had a brilliant holiday and a nice stay at the Sheraton Brooklyn NYC. But you couldn't make this up! Got back from work late, I think let me order a takeaway, can't be bothered to cook tonight, it Friday, my girls are hungry. Tried to order something, but transactions declined. I know I have some money in my account, as I checked before I left work. But I check my account again anyway. I check and my account is overdrawn by nearly £300, I had enough money to order and more. Why I am I overdrawn? The f***ing hotel have taken not one, but two extra payments, I settled my account before we left the hotel. Phoned the hotel they can't see these extra payments have been taken, which are for $250 and $255. We had room service for the two rooms, which was no where near the amount taken and they had already taken a deposit at the beginning of the stay and further payment during the stay, which had to be refunded. Now while we were out there, I read an article on Facebook, where a women was complaining that she didn't have any room service at the Sheraton Brooklyn, she was charged $187, after leaving. So, when we checked out, I double checked, that my bill was settled and that there would be no further charges. Obviously I was told no that's it settled in full. Good job I have no overdraft.... The Hotel tried to say it would take up to 30 days, if it has been taken incorrectly. If???? Really???? I don't think so!!!! Nothing will ruin the holiday we had. But REALLY!!!! Once the bill had been paid and the room checked the card details should have been deleted. The cleaners were in the within 5 minutes of us leaving, I had to return after 30 minutes. Any damage would have been reported by that time. What the hell is this hotel playing at???
It was a great location, staff were really and helpfully. Take a wander you will find some nice little takeaways within a few blocks, across the road the road Brooklyn Brewery was excellent. Three complaints, unfortunately; internet and tv went down for four days, this hit the whole block and I realise that this was not the hotels fault directly. But were not compensated in any way, given that there had been the bombing in London and were concerned about what was going at home. We were trying to use Wi-Fi to contact home and for banking, this was an absolute let down and being told we would like Wi-Fi too, did help!!!!! Two, although, there is Starbucks attached to the hotel, this is the only seating available outside the hotel, you are not allowed to smoke at these seats, given that during my stay I had really debilitating back ache, as a smoker, a seat would have been greatly appreciated. Given the high number of smokers staying at the Sheraton, I am sure seating outside, near the ashtrays would be have nice (I am understating), please sort this out, We were as smokers treated like second class citizens, we spend as much as other guests. Thirdly, some of the drivers attached to the hotel need to either use sat nav or get to know the city much more, especially Manhattan. The worse example we experienced, we asked to go to 8th Avenue, between 42nd and 43rd; we were taken nowhere near our destination. We were taken to Harlem, which was miles away, to cap it off, were also charged $140, $140!!!!! We were left angry and out of pocket. We were going for a bus tour, the address is in the middle of Manhattan! Nowhere near Manhattan, the driver was telling us that the bus was across the road, there was nothing there, none of us are visually impaired or stupid. We refused to get out of the luxury taxi, the area didn't look safe, at All!!!! In the end, NO APOLOGY, we just asked him to take us back to the hotel. We found the address the next day, miles away!!!!! #idiot! Although, these so called luxury 'taxi drivers' are not employed by the hotel there is an association with the hotel, their staff will guide you to these guys if you need a cab. This was not the only instance when we were ripped off by one off these drivers. People; beware of these rip off merchants!!!!!
Just wanted to give a Huge Shout Out to Sheraton Manager Matthew Schneider. We ran into a problem and Matthew took the time to brainstorm possible solutions. Thank you for keeping my son safe. Your kindness made all the difference! The Sheraton is lucky to have such a fabulous manager!!
