Neighborhood guide

Bedford-Stuyvesant

This quiet brownstone neighborhood is quickly becoming an up-and-coming destination.

Bedford-Stuyvesant, known as Bed-Stuy for short, boasts a tight-knit community who take pride in the neighborhood’s magnificent residential architecture. The area is experiencing a renaissance, as empty storefronts along Bedford Avenue are converted to shiny new bars, cafes and restaurants. This is a neighborhood where old-timers mingle with newcomers, and many of the businesses remain locally owned. Photo courtesy of Kenficara via Flickr.
