Located at the prime corner of Wythe Ave and North 10th St. in Williamsburg Brooklyn, this eight-story, 150-room brand new Hotel strikes the perfect pitch between spectacular service and style. The guest rooms are richly tiled-and-textured with authentic reclaimed materials, and the lobby bar and lounge area has a very classy-cozy feel. This mid-winter, the highly anticipated Harvey restaurant by Chef Adam Leonti will make its debut. The Williamsburg Hotel was designed by Michaelis Boyd (Soho House Berlin, Babington House UK) with a nod to the neighborhood’s industrial past by using brick, glass and Corten steel in its construction. The dramatic entrance through cascading stairs leads into a soaring bar whose art installation stops you in your tracks. Street artist Eric Rieger has strung thousands of strands of multi-colored yarn which crowns the bar. Other design highlights include custom toile-inspired wallpaper designed by Beastie Boy Mike Diamond featuring quintessential Brooklyn scenes and figures—from a Nathan’s Famous hot dog to a group of Hasidic Jewish men, to the late, great Notorious B.I.G. Guest rooms feature floor-to-ceiling sliding glass acoustic windows with Manhattan, Brooklyn and East River views, and design schemes vary from white-washed timber walls to deep grey distressed finishes with bespoke leather, brass, marble, and textured details at every turn. Rooms are thoughtfully designed with elements like a sitting table doubling as a tray for room service, open-windowed showers to create a loft-like space. Upgrades available to a room with a terrace with amazing views.
Cypress Hills Cemetery was the first non-sectarian/non-denominational cemetery corporation organized in the Brooklyn/Queens area of New York City.
Conveniently located on a high plateau that straddles Queens and Brooklyn, Highland Park offers stunning views of Ridgewood Reservoir, the Rockaways, the Atlantic Ocean, and nearby cemeteries. Acquired in pieces over time, the park took its present shape between 1906 and 1908, quickly became a popular spot among residents of both boroughs, and continues to play an important role in the community. Children's farm gardens act as hands-on classrooms, barbecue areas serve as meeting grounds for mass celebrations, and numerous tennis courts, baseball fields, handball courts, and basketball courts provide New Yorkers with safe, clean spots for athletic recreation. The Ridgewood Reservoir located on the Brooklyn/Queens border in Highland Park, served as a backup water supply for the two boroughs until 1989. After the reservoir’s closure, a landscape of woods and wetlands developed within the three basins. The pathway around the basins is heavily used by Brooklyn and Queens residents for walking and exercise. The reservoir boasts being home to more than 151 species of birds.
The Evergreens Cemetery was organized in 1849 as a non-sectarian cemetery, under the Rural Cemetery Act of 1847. This beautiful park-like cemetery on the Brooklyn-Queens border covers 225 acres of rolling hills and gently sloping meadows, and features several thousand trees and flowering shrubs. The Evergreens is the final resting place of more than 526,000 people. It offers a selection of burial options including family lots (two graves and up), single graves (accommodating up to three interments when possible), an urn garden, and community and private family mausoleums. Our new Chapel Mausoleum and Niches offer other alternatives for peaceful, dignified rest in a bucolic setting.
