Cypress Hills

Cypress Hills is the easternmost neighborhood in Brooklyn. It’s primarily Black and Hispanic population is working to improve their neighborhood through such community renewal efforts as community gardens, public murals, and youth outreach. The hills that hugs Highland Park north Jamaica Avenue offers a panoramic view of Brooklyn Queens as distant as far Rockaway. In the last half of the 19th century Cypress Hills grew from a quiet rural community into a thriving suburban development.
