Where (North) Williamsburg is a mecca for young sophisticates, South Williamsburg is a more residential neighborhood, primarily defined by its Spanish and Satmar Hasidic populations. Along its quieter streets you’ll find shops, cafes, restaurants and new condo developments, as gentrification spreads south from North Williamsburg. Here’s one thing that’s not changing in the neighborhood: Peter Luger Steakhouse, considered one of the best steaks in New York, and a South Williamsburg institution since 1887.
