Green-Wood’s Death Café continues throughout the winter. Each evening, in small groups, participants share their thoughts on death and dying over light refreshments. The Death Café is inspired by centuries-old European salons where people gathered informally to discuss philosophical, political, or scientific ideas. The first Death Café was started by British entrepreneur Jon Underwood in 2010 as way to “increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their lives.”
Death educator and funeral director Amy Cunningham leads Green-Wood’s Death Café, inviting participants to ponder the universal concept of death in a space where they can feel comfortable having such significant conversations.
The upcoming events will take place in Green-Wood’s modern chapel on Tuesdays, February 13 & March 13, 2018; 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with forthcoming dates in spring 2018. The events sell out fast! Reservations are recommended.
